The phenomena of poverty is something our society has been trying to reduce for many, many years. The term itself is becoming used to describe many peoples’ living situations and has been bandied about often. It is with good reason. With the world population growing as it is, with non renewable resources reaching it’s limits, add to that the unstable nature of some of the worlds political economies, people are at risk. It is also related to the growth of some nations, the rise of capital for a section of the population and the rise of globalisation, where there is gradually becoming a standard image of wealth where those who don’t belong to that standard feel deprived. It works both ways.

Poverty can be described as the lack of the minimum food, shelter and money required for living. It’s just a basic definition that pretty much is broken in two forms. The first is Absolute poverty where basic human needs are not met. A lack of food, water, shelter, healthcare and very limited growth for the people. The second is Relative Poverty which implies the lack of certain resources that are not on par with the rest of the population. In short, a person who drives an old car may feel Relative Poverty driving among people with new cars. It’s up to the definition of the deprived.

Fighting poverty is a challenge for all countries no matter how you look at it . Most , if not all nations face their own challenges of poverty. But they each hold different levels. Absolute Poverty is clearly the most important type of poverty to reduce, because this type seriously affects the lifestyle of people, sometimes with life or death impacts. Production, self sufficiency, economic growth and independence is the first building block to fighting poverty, but that’s not all there is to it. It’s not that simple. Economic growth in a society will not reduce poverty unless it is inclusive of all. There are many different factors to consider. The economy in a country can be determined by culture, religion, political ideology, government type, social status and even race. These factors affect how people in a society receive help or how much they can help themselves in a society. A rise in a countries economy may just provide the rich to become richer and the poor poorer, therefore multiplying absolute poverty cases.

The biggest weapon to fighting poverty is encouraging inclusiveness and equality for the society. Without this, there would always be Absolute Poverty. Relative poverty, on the other hand can be reduced by not only opening up opportunities for growth, (like making it possible for the person mentioned above to buy a new car) but more importantly, encouraging others to change their perspectives, that their worth is not dependent on others. These are not easy feats. There is inequality in all societies. It must take a concerted effort by all to change a way of thinking that encourages restriction of the societies’ resources on all it’s people. Coupled with the fact that there are different ideologies purporting to be the panacea for poverty, it can be very problematic and lead to conflicts that can push it even further. One thing is sure, in order to fight poverty, the societies of the world need to promote development and opportunity for their peoples.

Studying philosophy starts from our unconscious mind where curiosity arises. With a lot of benefits and advantages that we can get from studying philosophy, it seems to have a great impact on our lives.

Through this, we can develop our analytical thinking and this will help us think much clearer and more precisely. Wisdom is the knowledge of principles, reasoning and a series of explanations. It also includes ethical views. It explores and asks various questions. Furthermore, it also seeks the answers and justifies what we have chosen to believe.

Everybody needs to study philosophy because we need to know the reasons behind all things. We need to know the reason why we have to study. We need to know the reasons why we live. We need to know the reasons behind our existence. We need to know the reasons why we were created. What is our purpose in life? Philosophy has the answer. Philosophy is deep in our hearts. Therefore, we have the answers to our questions. We just need to explore it and to dig deeper. Studying philosophy will help us out on that part.

Philosophy is not the facts that have been presented to us in schools, by media, by scientists, or in books. It is our own understanding, the knowledge, values, and appreciation of things. It is not given to us entirely, but it is rather what our mind and wise thinking brought us to. Not everything is answered by facts or by science, most of the important things in life is taught to us by philosophy.

If you want to understand the world that you are living in, studying philosophy is the answer. Be knowledgeable and be more of a critic, and you will understand how the world revolves. You will understand the beauty of life and improve the way you live your own life. Good philosophy is the key. If it happens that you have poor and bad philosophy in life, there is a big probability that you will create a lot of errors into your life. Analyze more, and create multiple reasonings until you get the best answer to the question that you have. Studying philosophy will teach you about ethics, values and how to solve different problems. Thinking according to good philosophy will give you a better answer and better results.

The power of critical thinking and reasoning is in Philosophy. We need it to apply to any areas or fields of study that we will undertake. It will be the root of our own success because we will be able to express our complexity, our intelligence, wisdom, ethics and understanding about any matter. It is also a great background for different careers, especially political careers. We tend to examine all the assumptions in life and think what might happen in the future if we choose the specific action. Studying philosophy leads us to big possibilities, intellectual minds, imaginations and conclusions, therefore, it is giving us the great answers to simple but difficult questions.

People often ask what is philosophy? It is a study of basic problems related with existence, values, knowledge, mind and language. The word ‘Philosophy’ is derived from a Greek word ‘ Philosophia’ that means ‘love of wisdom”. The philosophy of science enables us to question the established principles and truths by way of assumptions and logical arguments. There are various branches of philosophy and it includes: epistemology, logic, metaphysics, ethics (moral philosophy) and aesthetics. If we look in detail at the branches of philosophy we can get a comprehensive idea about what philosophy is.

Epistemology in Greek refers to ”knowledge, science”. It studies the nature and scope of knowledge and it involves the relationship between the truth, belief and theories of justification. It asks the question “what is knowledge?” and how do we know what we know? Therefore, this field is often referred to as the ‘Theory of knowledge’. However a perennial defect of this field is the probability that there is very little or no knowledge at all (Skepticism).

Logic, on the other hand sudies the principles of valid inference and proper reasoning. Currently, logic has two divisions namely: mathematical logic and philosophical logic. Mathematical logic lays the foundation of theoritical computer science and mathematics. Philosophical logic (a term coined by Bertrand Russel), on the other hand, is a study of more specifically philosophical aspects of logic as against the symbolic logic.

Metaphysics concerns about the most general features of reality including time, the relationship between mind and body, events, processes, objects and their properties. The two main branches of Metaphysics are cosmolgy and ontology. While cosmology is a discipline dealing with the nature of the Universe as a whole, ontology deals with the philosophical study of the nature of being, existence and reality as such.

Ethics raises the questions of the best way to live, and concerns the question of whether this question can be answered. Ethics also has several branches and it includes: meta-ethics, normative ethics and applied ethics. Meta ethics studies the nature of ethical thoughts like origins of the words good and bad, and raises the question as to whether there are absolute ethical truths and how such ethical truths could be known? Normative ethics concerns how one ought to act and what the right course of action is. Applied ethics, the third branch of ethics, goes beyond theory and study about real world ethics. For instance: whether abortion is correct or not?

Another branch of philosophy, Aesthetics, deals with beauty, enjoyment, sensory-emotional values, perception, art, and matters of taste and sentiment. It is often termed as judgements of sentiment and taste. However in a broader sense, scholars define Aesthetics as a ‘critical reflection of art, culture and nature’.

It is worth knowing some of the great philosophers in history. The history of philosophy can be traced back to the work of the philosophers of Ancient Greece and the work of Auguste Comte and John Stuart Mill. Moreover, philosophers like Copernicus, Bacon, Plato, Galilio and Kepler had developed their own thoughts regarding philosophy.

The two world wars brought about the necessity of creating an international organisation that upholds human rights and maintains world peace. Accordinlgy the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) was established in 1945. In its efforts to make the world free from fanaticism and obscurantism, UNESCO has always highlighted philosophical ideas and values. This has been entrusted in the constitution of UNESCO (adopted in November 16,1945) that ” a war made possible by the denial of the democratic principles of the dignity, equality and mutual respect of men”. Moreover the first clause of the preamble of the constitution asserts that ” Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed”. To meet this goal it is essential to enhance the contacts and exchanges between people across various nations in order to develop mutual understanding and knowledge. This can open the doors of unity in moral and intellectual aspects of the human race and this can act as a sole way to assure lasting and real peace. All these indicate a greater significance for philosophy at UNESCO.

The world war disrupted contacts between philosophers of various countries and universities. Their publications were unable to spread their ideas as the circulation was halted. War made the human values and peace null and void. UNESCO intervened at this stage and started spreading and popularizing an international culture that has a foundation in philosophy. Philosophy does not discriminate against people on any grounds. Geo political boundaries cannot act as a barrier to the circulation of philosophical ideas and knowledge. It is this fact that inspired UNESCO to give more impetus for philosophical thought to coordinate nations across the globe. People in different countries own a heritage of different cultures, languages and religions. However, UNESCO has been successful in its efforts to inculcate the values of philosophy and consolidate the people living in various countries by sharing their knowledge.

UNESCO has started celebrating world philosophy day since 2002. The philosophy day is celebrated on the third thursday of every November. On this particular day, we should rethink whether our society is living according to the moral and ethical principles of freedom. This day has been celebrated by UNESCO by giving importance to inspire people all over the world to exchange their philosophical traditions with each other.

In 2004-05, UNESCO launched a project named ” Inter-regional philosophical dialogue” as part of its philosophy programme. It provides a platform for philosophers from two regions to engage in dialogues and exchange their philosophical heritages.

UNESCO encourages the teaching of philosophy at all levels of education as part of imparting a quality education through out the world. As there are many challenges to the teachings of philosophy and it varies from region to region, UNESCO has launched a series of Regional high level meetings starting from 2009. The aim was to introduce philosophy in the curricula where it does not include it and improve where it has already started the teaching. If we consider all these things we can confirm one thing - that philosophy at UNESCO has become part and parcel in all aspects.

The United Nations Organation has described democracy as: ”Democracy is a universal value, based on the freely expressed will of the people to determine their own political, economic, Social and Cultural systems, and their full participation in all aspects of their lives”. A democratic set up of administration is the right of the people through which they can express their will and personal rights. People should own the power to determine and select leaders to rule them in a democratic way. Otherwise, it will be a violation of their natural rights and freedom of choice.

Although, democracy in general means a political transition, this change can lead to the growth of not only the political set up but the entire gamut of human life that leads to progress. The multifaceted goals of democracy include: to preserve and promote individual dignity and fundamental rights, strengthening social cohesion and national order and focusing on the social and economic development of the whole community by guaranteeing social justice and personal liberty.

In the 20th century most of the countries in Latin America had dictatorial administrations either in the nature of patriarchal or military rule. People of those countries were able to comprehend the true freedom given by democracy and this led to the uprisings and resulting democratic transitions in 1980s. Subsequently the involvement of people in the political spectrum and policy making has been on the rise marking more social inclusion in the development process. The fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 was followed by a lengthy process of democratic transition in Central and Eastern Europe. This was able to change the political culture in those countries in a democratic way. The African continent also saw the spirit of democracy and the institutionalization of multiparty politics was more dynamic in nature. The very reason for democratic transition can be the hopes in the mind of the people for a better tomorrow by upholding their fundamental rights and liberty.

The work of the United Nations Organisation for encouraging democracy is noteworthy. At the 2005 world summit, it created a fund called the ’United Nations Democracy Fund’ (UNDEF) to promote democracy and human rights by strengthening the democratic institutions. The interference of UNO in the recent uprisings for democracy in the Arab world stands as a testimony to this fact. In the process of democratic transition, a new course has been identified in the recent uprisings. Women and young people are taking part in such movements with a new tool in their hands, Social Media Networks. It is true that they have not enjoyed the benefits of democracy and it is this thirst for freedom that led to the irrepressible upheavel.

Only democracy wins in the end. People cannot be ruled without their permission. The people of any country posses their natural right to be free from the hassles of slavery thrusted by the sefish rulers. Where there is democracy, there is freedom of speech, freedom of movement, freedom of equality, etc. It is this freedom that led to the growth of the whole community by ensuring an egalitarian society. Therefore, democracy promotes individual as well as social growth.

“Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once.” – Lillian Dickson

It’s very difficult to pen down a definition but Philosophy is considered as the mindset or study of fundamental problems which are connected with the mere existence of value, language, mind, reason, and knowledge. Philosophy has different notions of addressing any problem or instance by its systematic and critical approach to rational argument or reliance.

Teaching philosophy is not simple because the teacher has to be liberal not only in their thoughts but in their implementation and actions too. Philosophy is accepting rationality and fusing it with freedom. The capable guaranteeing real context or words are been perverted by noble sentiments and emotions. It’s easy to be a philosopher but on the other hand it’s really difficult to practice it. Freedom and philosophy are quite linked terms but have you ever though what freedom is for you?

It can be money, success, job, family, cars, passion, motivation and learning and lots more. Philosophy of freedom varies from person to person based on the kind of roles played by them every day. Philosophy is transitional and varies every day. Now it’s hard to justify this but you can actually experiment:

Philosophy is directly proportional with the thought process, as said through the ages, but a thought changes the philosophy affecting our entire day’s work. Teaching philosophy requires lot of material and enthusiasm.

Philosophy cannot be taught neither it can be learned because it has to evolve through ideas and motivation. Intellects are born with ideas created as a result of dedication and knowledge.

Teaching philosophy has to reflect and send out transitional waves from the teacher to students. A teacher teaching any philosophical subjects must have the power to convince learners that the material is very useful, fun and interesting. There are many philosophical quotes which bring out the true flavor of freedom.

Quotes like:

“The man who is not dead still has a chance.” – Lebanese proverb

A Human being is an endless power of resource and will that is unexplored. Perhaps, it remains junk. Philosophy and freedom is the independence in approach and values of a person having the guts to say this is my life and this is how I live with few flaws. This depends on the journey since childhood to adolescence. This acceptance is freedom which leads to happiness, taking you on new heights to conquer outside freedom.

It’s rightly said that it’s important to bring change within and then glorify freedom. Empathy, enthusiasm, skills, honor, expertise, knowledge, madness and experimentation are factors that are required for talking or teaching philosophy.

If you have a basic background in Philosophy and the history behind it, you might wonder if there are any women philosophers. There are also women philosophers, but they are not as well known as the male philosophers. The main reason why there aren’t many popular women philosophers is because history often favoured the contributions of men. Also, the ideas and theories of men are given more attention by the society. The women philosophers might be recognized by philosophy history, but unfortunately, some people do not know about them.

Let’s name a few women philosophers and their contributions to the field. One is Hypatia of Alexandria. She is considered the first notable female mathematician. She also focused on the study and teaching of philosophy and astronomy. She is a Greek philosopher that was interested and studied religious and mystical philosophy based on Plato’s theories and teachings. She was killed by a Christian mob because they blamed her for the people’s confusion on religious matters.

Ayn Rand is both a novelist and a philosopher of the 20th century. She developed and introduced the philosophical system that she called “Objectivism”. Her philosophy denotes that human beings have absolute contact with the reality. This contact originates from the sensory perception of a person. She firmly believes that one can obtain knowledge from forming your own concept and conducting your own logical explanation. On a much simpler explanation, her philosophy means living on earth, that the purpose of living in this world is the pursuit of one’s happiness. Her theory is about human knowledge. The knowledge is objective and is determined by the reality. It will soon be discovered by your own mind and thinking and is not just given by anyone’s thoughts and ideas.

Hildegard of Bingen is also one of the women philosophers that has made a good contribution to the history of Philosophy. She is a writer, a philosopher, a theologian and a composer of music. She is also known as Saint Hildegard and Sibyl of the Rhine. She made a lot of contributions and was rediscovered by historians of Medieval philosophy.

There are even a lot of female mathematicians and philosophers that existed. Most of them were either Plato’s students and others were daughters of the great philosophers. We all know that in ancient history, women were not given any formal education. There were only a few women who insisted on learning and were not contented just being a plain housewife and mother. A woman’s traditional role in these times was to take care of the family members and the males are given more chances of studying and having logical thoughts. Despite the facts that have been presented about men and women in the ancient times, the women philosophers that existed have several great contributions to Philosophy. Women can also think logically and justify their thinking and theories. Women also seek answers to their questions. Through this, several women philosophers existed and should be given recognition.

For several thousand years philosophers have shared their wonderful philosophies about life and reality. Famous philosophers from history contributed a lot in the world of history, life and the mysteries of the universe. Some of their philosophies are well explained, while some still left a lot of questions and a lot of confusion. Great thinking, great minds, and great philosophies from the famous philosophers will be discussed in this article. There might be some error in their philosophies but it made the people think and use their critical thinking skills.

One of the famous philosophers from history is Plato. He is indeed a great Philosopher from his time. He was a student of Socrates, and the teacher of Aristotle. He wrote a lot of philosophies that are still under debate. Some people agree on his philosophy, while some are still questioning it. He talked about the different forms of government. He discussed about the monarchy, democracy, aristocracy, oligarchy, and tyranny. He is also the one who introduced Platonism or Realism. He divided the world into two: the Sensible world, and the Intelligible world. The sensible world is the individual’s reality and is constantly changing, while the Intelligible world is the universal and invisible reality.

Aristotle is also one among the famous philosophers from history. He contributed philosophies about Metaphysics. It is one of his most popular works and contributions in the field of Philosophy. He explained that metaphysics is the study of One Substance which interrelates all things. Metaphysics is said to be the foundation of every knowledge. It is the root of all wisdom and intelligence. He left a lot of questions in everybody’s minds, therefore, a lot of philosophers studied Metaphysics and created their own philosophies. Aristotle formalized Metaphysics, and he helped in discharging all the hidden thoughts and ideas of people about the subject matter.

Albert Einstein’s philosophy about Physics is considered as one of the pillars of the subject matter. He introduced the Special and General Relativity theory which is commonly used by other philosophers and scientists. Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday and many other philosophers also contributed in the field of Physics. Different theories, well-explained and well-justified by these philosophers, are the basis of the study of Physics, and continually developing the knowledge about the specific subject.

The philosophers are the lovers of wisdom. A lot of philosophers contributed theories, knowledge and ideas. There are different subject matters, and a wide array of topics that they have started and discussed. All of them are theories with different bases and rationales. These famous philosophers from history started from their curiosity up to the rational thinking and they connected it to scientific knowledge and facts. John Locke, Epicurus, Zeno of Citium, Avicenna, Thomas Aquinas, Confucius, and many others also have their own contributions to Philosophy. There are tons of philosophers who shared and offered their own views and theories on different questions about ethics, metaphysics, logic, politics, and other fields. They are part of history and will forever be remembered because of their wise thinking and powerful reasoning.

There are many kinds of days that people look up to in the world. However, world philosophy day is among the greatest of these days. One might ask why is world philosophy day a great day as compared to the other holidays that have made a mark worldwide? The answer is simple. When you are celebrating world philosophy day, you are basically celebrating the time when reason and questions to some of the fundamental things in our lives were explained. You are celebrating the people who brought about some essential explanations that are of importance in the world.

Have you ever thought how the world would be if there was no any philosophical aspect? Things would be completely out of order. Philosophy has brought about changes that no one man would ever thought of. Think of some of the court rules and judgments that have been fostered and brought about by philosophy, think of some of the logical reasoning that philosophy has played a part in developing in our lives today. These are among the things that you should really think of when commemorating and celebrating this special day of the world.

This day also helps many people to learn more about the history of philosophy and when and how it came about. It takes us back in time to those days when people used philosophical reasoning to come up with a judgment and how it has developed some of the most powerful governments. It has also played a role in shaping some of the most renowned scholars, leaders and philosophers. There are some reasons why it is important to mark this day on calendars. The first reason is that it is a day when all the people that played a part in the making of world philosophy are remembered. It is a day to appreciate their efforts and the changes that they brought about in the world. There are many philosophers that can be celebrated and remembered from the ancient times. Some of them were known to have lived hundreds of years ago and some of them are present day philosophers.

UNESCO has started celebrating world philosophy day from 2002 onwards with the intention of reinforcing notions such as freedom, respect for humanity, a love of peace, solidarity and commitment to an ideal culture and life.

One can proclaim UNESCO (United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation) as a philosophy institution as it works to maintain world peace and security by enhancing unity between nations via education, science and culture. The activities of UNESCO ensures universal endorsement of: justice, human rights and liberties without considering race, gender, language or anything else. Here one may ask what is the link between UNESCO and philosophy and why have a world philosophy day? To meet the goals of UNESCO GF, it has to pursue a certain philosophy of law, of human rights and liberty.

In history, during the second world war there was a breakdown of moral values and peace leading to a cultural difference in principles. This was the state of affairs that promoted the establishment of UNESCO in 1945. Philosophy is a form of wisdom and it enables us to question the established truths by analysing hypotheses and reaching a conclusion. In other words philosophy gives us ideas and concepts that form the basis of creative, independent and critical thoughts. World philosophy day has been celebrated on the third thursday of November since 2002. This day has enabled this institution to celebrate the importance of philosophical traditions among people across the globe. It acts as a platform through which people can exchange their cultural and philosophical heritage.

World peace depends upon upholding the values of democracy, human rights, justice, and equality. It is true that philosophy can lay the conceptual basis for all these principles and values and leadership speakers can bring attention to these topics. Celebrating philosophy day can help consolidate these foundations of peaceful existence across the world. It does not discriminate against people on the basis of cast, sex, religion, country, language, creed or anything else. It demands universal equality in terms of philosophical ideas to fulfil the moral and ethical commitments for a peaceful existence of society. Hydroxatone Despite the huge loss of ideas and values during the two world wars, the efforts forwarded by the United Nations Organisation and its departments including UNESCO have been able to highlight such losses and inculcate the necessity of moral and philosophical ideas for maintaining world peace.

If we can enable a global community holding tightly to philosophical ideas then our posterity can forget the concept of the continuity of world wars. As we need a peaceful world order, how can we combat each other? Philosophy is the foundation upon which the building of human life can be built up strongly without collapsing it in the shaking of ignorant and irrational ideas. It is by knowing this glory of philosophy that the world is celebrating philosophy day to strengthen its roots. Philosophical ideas can bring together various communities and narrow down their cultural differences. This can reduce the barriers of language, geography and tradition among various nations. Therefore, it is essential that philosophy day celebrations should be able to highlight this form of wisdom to a wider perspective.

How Philosophy Can Be Used To Educate Others About Freedom

Freedom is the right to do or say what you want without anyone stopping you. It is a core right that each and every human being is entitled to. Freedom is a fundamental right whose provision is made in the constitution of a state. There are various types of freedom such as freedom of expression, speech, choice, movement and religion just to mention but a few. Freedom can even mean being able to move about your house freely with stairlifts for some people. One must not infringe on the freedom of another. A person who does so forfeits their own right to freedom. A free society is an empowered society.

Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. It is a study that seeks to understand the mysteries of reality and existence. Philosophy is important because human beings adapt their lives around ideas about what life and reality is or should be like. Many people have utilized an essay writing service to write about philosophical topics in order to educate others about freedom. They use these ideas as a guide to the way they act. It is what enables people to coexist and also be able to carry out their business with minimal misunderstanding. Without freedom, a society and nation as a whole would not be able to move forward. Freedom really is mutual and entails respect.

One can use philosophy to educate others about freedom. Since it takes in an depth look at the relationships between nature and humanity as well as between an individual and society, it is a good method of enlightening others about their freedoms. Teaching philosophy in schools and institutions of higher learning enables students to understand the importance of freedom to a society ensuring that the students develop into responsible citizens. By using philosophy to educate others about freedom, it engages students in a discussion about life. It is a form of inquiry or rather a process of analyzing, criticizing, interpreting and speculating. Philosophy not only tries to make people understand some of the questions that seem to have no answer but it also makes people more appreciative of what they have.

Another way philosophy can be used to educate others about their freedom is by studying the great philosophers of all time such as Confucius, Plato and Aristotle among others. This plays a huge role in making people know about how those who were before them thought and why they thought the way they did. Other ways to teach philosophy is by giving seminars to adults which stress on the importance of freedom. We can therefore see that freedom is important to every person as there are people who struggled to attain that freedom and hence it should be cherished. Without it, one would be controlled and not have free will over their own body and mind. With it, you are free to do as you will and live a happy and peaceful life.

The Importance of Philosophy in our Daily Life

Philosophy basically means intelligence. It comes from a Greek BB word “philosophia ” which means “love of wisdom”. Critical thinking and a systematic approach is the root of philosophy, therefore, the importance of philosophy is related to the improvement of our critical thinking skills. With our logical mind and with the application of philosophy, anyone can clearly evaluate thoughts, statements, and any arguments that have been made by another person. Philosophy is needed so we can decide on our own and make informed choices.

If you have a background about the great philosophers and their philosophies of life, you are exposed to different theories that they have shared. These theories will make you think and realize the cause of different mysteries in life. Not everything is explained by science. There are still some things that are left unexplained and can be explained by our logical mind. Your own philosophy is your own point of view in life. You will either think and justify your conclusions about things, or just stick with the philosophies of others in life. Studying philosophy will make you think clearer, be more precise and be very practical.

Philosophy is not only a field of study. It is something that we need in our daily life. It is the reason why we think and decide. It asks and it answers. The basic questions that we commonly encounter is “What should I do?” PP , “What should I believe?”, and questions like “What to choose between the two?”. The answers to these questions depend on our philosophical mind. It is us who will decide for ourselves. It is us who will pick the answer. Every answer and decision that we will be making depends on the way we think and we analyze thoughts and ideas. It is philosophy.

Since we started thinking, questions have never been gone from our mind. The importance of Philosophy is that it clarifies what conclusions, ideas, thoughts and facts have been presented to us. Our mind is stimulated to create further questions. We seek answers. We find answers. Philosophy is what we use to survive living. It is the basis of all of our doings. We act according to our own philosophy in life. We think in accordance with our beliefs. We think and decide on what to do to lead us to a good and better future.

Philosophy deals with everything that exists and does not exist in the world. It is the knowledge that we live by. However, it is subdivided into different branches. These branches are metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics, and aesthetics. Metaphysics is the branch that usually deals with the reality, the existence of all things and their essence. Epistomology is about nature and the extent of knowledge. Logic is what we use everyday. It is about principles and reasoning. Ethics is about our values, character, good manners and right conduct. Aesthetics is about the principles of beauty and art. The importance of philosophy is as big as the importance of life. With the principles, character, values and knowledge that we live by, we are able to survive the jungle of life.

The Importance of educating children in need

Education is the process of learning, attaining and improving knowledge as well as developing skills. It is the backbone of any economy and it is the most important gift that any parent can give to their children. All over the world are children from different walks of life. Some are able to access a good quality education amongst other basic needs while others are not so fortunate due to their disadvantaged background. It is therefore important to educate children in need. By gaining an education, a person is able to understand what is happening around them clearly. By gaining an education a person is able to access a decent income through employment and access services such as health insurance, car insurance, legal advice and other services that many people in developed countries take for granted. An individual who has knowledge has the ability to make viable decisions. Making decisions is incredibly important when it comes to your health and the only way to tackle issues such as obesity is to educate about diets such as the african mango diet or to promote a long and healthy life through educating about supplements such as resveratrol. It is therefore significant to especially educate children in need and ensure that they are not left behind as every child is entitled to an education.

One of the most important reasons for educating needy children is to ensure they turn into responsible citizens who are actively involved in their society. Education enables children to be productive in the future. By going to school, a child will learn what his or her strong points are hence putting their potential to best use. Some of the children in need who cannot access an education are very intelligent and hence providing them with a platform to learn will make sure that their potential does not go to waste. It is not surprising that these children go ahead to become some of the most prominent people in society. They tend to not take for granted the opportunities presented to them and thus they work twice as hard as their fortunate counterparts.

The eradication of ignorance is also a reason why there is a need to educate these children. By learning and becoming more knowledgeable, a person’s way of thinking changes and becomes more rational. A person who is free from ignorance becomes more aware of the world around them and is more appreciative. Education will play a huge role in fostering a positive outlook and augmenting self belief in children. This will give them a chance to be independent and self reliant. It will also challenge the children to be better at whatever they do. An educated child will also be aware of their rights and freedoms hence no one can take advantage of them.

To ensure that these children are not lacking, it is the responsibility of a nation as a whole to see to it that no child is locked out of this opportunity. Every government has a vital role to play. The provision of free education up to a certain level so that no citizen is uneducated is a good start. Books and other learning materials should be made available. Well wishers can also contribute to this cause because education is power. The benefits of education are far too many to list. It is a small price to pay for a better future. An education will develop a wholesome person and hence its importance cannot be stressed enough. By reaching out to those children who cannot afford education, they will have an opportunity to develop into responsible people, hence the importance of educating children in need.

Gender Equality

Gender equality refers to giving equal rights and opportunities in all matters to both men and women. There should not be any discrimination on the grounds of gender for attaining an education, jobs, or in any other arena. It has been found across the globe that in many countries women are restricted in their homes on account of religious, cultural, and narrow minded reasons. However, it should be noted that only a community that gives importance to gender equality can develop into its full potential. In fact, it is the fundamental right of women to be treated equally in all aspects. Ignorance and illiteracy are the rootcause for gender inequality across the world. A highly literate community cannot differentiate between men and women except on the basis of physical appearance. Both men and women are born in this world as human beings, then why should there be discrimination on the basis of gender? Both of them enjoy equal natural rights to live and take part in the growth of the whole community.Women should be preserved and protected in all ways. Otherwise, we can predict the end of our culture and posterity.

There are many obstacles standing in the way of achieving gender equality. Some of them include: Violence against women, gendered poverty and excluding women from taking part in economic and political decision making processes. It is a pathetic fact that gender inequality is still existing even in 21st century. What has mankind achieved in the long process of history without giving equal dignity to men and women? We need a deep transformation of the existing social set up in order to impart equal rights for both men and women. It is a widely accepted principle that behind the success of every man there is a woman. So they deserve equal rights in all matters reserved for men.

The United Nations Organisation (UNO) has been giving more focus to attaining gender equality across the globe. In 2010, a United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women called ‘UN Women’ was created. It intends to provide support to inter-governmental bodies in all matters related to promoting gender equality. It can be in the form of financial aid and policy making guidelines by effectively monitoring its progress across the globe. Moreover, UNO has included the goal of achieving ‘gender equality’ in the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) as a basic roadmap for development. Hence efforts to develop gender equality are not confined to the geo political boundaries of nations.

In the contemporary world we can see a surprising transition in the order of society. The heads of countries and organisations are being headed by women. They are able to come foreward and raise their voice towards freedom and growth. There are many uprisings with women as the protagonists. Let it be in the fields of literature, politics, NGOs,etc. women have started surpassing men in many respects. Thanks to the efforts put forward by Government and international Organisations in promoting gender equality. However, gender equality needs to be reflected in each nook and corner of the society in all aspects of life.

Human Rights and Freedom

Each one of us is entitled to our human rights. Those are the basic and fundamental rights of each human being that is meant to be respected and identified. In human rights, there is no discrimination. Whatever your race, nationality, color, language, or place of residency is, everyone has the natural human rights that are followed to prevent further abuse, whether it is political, legal or social abuse. The existence of human rights results in protection from abuse and the freedom of each individual.

There are several existing human rights that should be protected by each human being. They include security rights wherein we are protected from different crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and abuse. Just in case someone abuses our right to safety and security, the involved person should be punishable by law in accordance with the due process. A trial should be held and the person should be punished according to the gravity of the crime committed.

Everybody is also entitled to freedom of speech wherein you are free to express your feelings, thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. No one should stop you from talking. You can freely speak your mind about your experiences when you buy african mango or when you try acai. You are free to give your own opinion, and other people also have the right to agree or disagree with you. If you have freedom of speech, anyone is also entitled to that. A debate is fine but you have to respect what other people have said. Freedom of speech is one of the human rights that should be respected.

We also have political rights that give us the freedom to vote for who we want to be our leader, the freedom to protest, and the freedom to give public service. Aside from that, we also have welfare rights that give us the right to be educated and prevent starvation. However, there are some people who are not given the chance to study at a university. The government has a certain solution for that. Some government officials offer scholarships, and most countries have different schools that are open to the public. The qualifications for those kinds of benefits for education purposes vary from school to school. The qualifications should be met and the person involved should do his/her part as well.

Even on the spiritual part, we also have human rights. We have the freedom to choose our religion. We are all aware that there are a huge selection and wide array of religions in the world. We are free to choose what we wish to believe in. We are free to choose what path are we going to follow. We have the freedom. Everybody has the right to freedom.

There are still a lot of human rights in the world that we live by. Everybody should be aware and knowledgeable about the basic concept of human rights. The philosophy of human rights explains several approaches and explanations as to how human rights affect our daily living and the way we interact with other people. jsn Human rights are not only rights but obligations.
